The following Core Values are the fundamental beliefs and ideals that will guide the ministry focus of HOPE Community Christian Fellowship. They are rooted in biblical principles and convictions, and they will shape our priorities and influence our actions and decisions.
Biblical Teaching: We prioritize biblical teaching that is both relevant and transformative. In our society, we are told that truth is relative and that there are no absolutes. At HOPE Community, we believe that truth exists and is only found in God’s Word – the Holy Bible. The Bible will serve as our ultimate authority and standard for everything we believe and do.
Boundary Breaking: We value letting the love of Jesus break down racial and economic barriers in our ministry. It has been said, “The Sunday morning worship hour is the most segregated time of the week. At HOPE Community, we will strive to build a church that is culturally and racially inclusive and diverse.”
Celebrative Worship: We value having lively praise and worship. At HOPE Community, we will incorporate both gospel and contemporary praise and worship music. We will also blend traditional hymns of the faith. We will use a variety of mediums (poetry, music, drama, artwork, multimedia, etc.) to create a vibrant environment where people can see and hear the truth of God's Word.
Empowering: We value the development and empowerment of each believer to utilize their spiritual gifts. No one will sit on the sidelines in God’s Kingdom – everyone will participate. At HOPE Community, we believe that God calls each person to a specific ministry, not just the pastor(s). Therefore, we will help individuals identify their spiritual gifts, train them in how to use them, and place them in ministries where they can effectively serve.
Excellence: We value excellence in everything we do. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. God does not call us to perfectionism, which seeks to glorify oneself, nor to mediocrity, which is just settling for less. Instead, He calls us to do our very best through His strength and authority to bring Him glory. At HOPE Community, we will honor and glorify God by maintaining a standard of excellence in all our actions. Colossians 3:23
Prayer: We value prayer. Prayer is more than a “now I lay me down to sleep…”; it is where spiritual battles are fought and won. At HOPE Community, we will promote vibrant prayer both individually and corporately. We believe that through diligent prayer, we can develop a deeper relationship with God. As a result, prayer will serve as the foundation upon which this and all other ministries are built. It will be our source of power and success: “A church with little prayer has,” Prayer is more than a “now I lay me down to sleep…”; it is where spiritual battles are fought and won. At HOPE Community, we will encourage vibrant prayer both individually and corporately. We believe that through diligent prayer, we can have a deeper relationship with God. Consequently, prayer will be the foundation upon which this and all other ministries are built. It will be our source of power and success: “A church with little prayer has little power. However, a church with much prayer has much power.”
The following are the core beliefs of HOPE Community Christian Fellowship. They are founded on biblical principles and convictions, and they will shape our priorities and influence our decisions.
We Believe: The Bible is God’s written revelation to humanity. It is verbally inspired in every word and completely inerrant in the original manuscripts. We affirm the infallibility, sufficiency, and authority of Scripture.
We Believe: There is only one living and true God, an infinite and all-knowing Spirit, perfect in all His attributes, one in essence, eternally existing in three Persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each equally deserving of worship and obedience.
We Believe: In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We Believe: The salvation of man, who is sinful and lost, is instantaneous and accomplished solely by the power of the Holy Spirit through the instrumentality of the Word of God when the repentant sinner—enabled by the Holy Spirit—responds in faith. This salvation is wholly of God by grace, based on the redeeming work of Jesus Christ and the merit of His shed blood, not on human merit or works. All of the redeemed are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.
We Believe: In the Spirit-filled life. As the divine and sovereign agent in regeneration, the Holy Spirit baptizes all believers into the body of Christ at the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit also dwells within, sanctifies, instructs, empowers them for service, and seals them until the day of redemption.
We Believe: In the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved; the saved unto the resurrection of life and the unsaved unto the resurrection of damnation.
We Believe: That all who put their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately united by the Holy Spirit into one body, the church, of which Christ is the head. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by building up its members in faith, through the instruction of the word, fellowship, keeping the ordinances, and sharing the gospel with the entire world. The formation of the church, the body of Christ, began on the Day of Pentecost and will be completed at Christ's return for His own at the rapture.
